The Illamasqua Skin Base foundation is one of my favourite foundations, however i do find that it gets forgotten about! I have had this foundation a while now and wanted to share my thoughts. This foundation was inspired by the BB creams in Asia and it's a foundation that has the benefits of a BB cream.
When i first saw the foundation, it appeared quite thick and i was hesitant on using it, however when it's applied to the skin you can barely feel it. It has a very light consistency and doesn't feel heavy.... but i do prefer more liquid foundations.
In my eyes i consider this a full coverage foundation, but it can be thinned out for a more lighter coverage. As i said before, it feels light on the skin, but not as light as a tinted moisturiser. I prefer to apply this using a buffing brush, as it gives a flawless finish. It is suitable for all skin types and has a semi-matte finish.
Having combination skin, sometimes it can get very difficult to find a foundation that controls the oil, but also helps with the dryness. I have found that on my really bad, dry days, the foundation can sometimes cling to the flakiness, however i ensure i exfoliate really well and i let my moisturizer skin in to the skin very well. With the help of Illamasqua Hydra Veil i don't need to worry about my foundation looking flaky. Full blog post HERE.
This controls my oil pretty well.....i mean there's not a product on the market that stops the oil completely but Skin Base does a pretty good job.
You can see how insane the coverage is by looking at the picture below. It pretty much covers everything!
There are 18 shades to choose from and i love how they have a foundation comparison chart for those wishing to purchase their foundation online.
I do enjoy using this foundation, however i don't reach for it on an everyday basis. I think it's great for giving the skin a flawless, even base and is ideal for night outs, special occasions etc. I prefer the plastic tube because it's easy to squeeze out every bit of product and is fab for travelling.

I brought this a while back after giving into all the hype on bloggers and twitter and I am not disappointed! My shade is SB10 and yes I agree, as it is a hefty price, wouldn't want to reach for it on a daily basis. Sadly Rich Liquid and Liquid Light doesn't quite live up to the same standards x

I have been wanting to try this! my shade is 10 or 12..wish it was available in India as well
ReplyDeleteI don`t understand why would Illamasqua Skin base foundation be like a BB cream. It has a full coverage, it doesn`t contain SPF and it doesn`t contain any skin caring ingredients. I love this foundation, but it has nothing to do with BB creams.
