Polar FT4 Heart Rate Monitor Watch Review

Several months ago, i joined the gym and my aim was to tone up, get fitter and lose a bit of weight. Now, i have always wondered how many calories i ave burnt at the gym, and decided to purchase the Polar FT4 Heart Rate Monitor Watch.

I wanted something that was very accurate in how many calories i was burning. I was using certain apps on my iphone and putting in what i have eaten and what kind of exercise i was doing. However, it wasn't really giving me an idea of what i was burning.....i mean we all burn a different amount calories, so i didn't want to accept an 'average' number for calories burnt.

This comes with a strap that you wear around you chest and you attach a transmitter, which records your heart beat. All the information gets displayed on the Polar FT4 watch. I can actually see your heart rate as i am working out. It also bleeps when i have gone outside my heart beat range......it tends to happen when i am doing cardio or weights!

When i first received the watch, i had to input my height, weight, age and sex. This is what makes it accurate because it automatically calculates the age-based target zone. You can use this for any kind of exercise activity, including swimming, as it is water resistant (30m).

Whenever i go to the gym or have done classes, i don't even remember that i am wearing it! It is super comfortable to wear. The watch keeps track of your last 10 workouts and as many of you know, i like to instagram them so, i know my progress.
I love this watch! This has showed me exactly what i have been burning and it makes me push myself even more on my next workout. For me this is just as important as going to the gym because i can track my progress and up my workouts. Plus it makes me feel great knowing i have burnt XXX calories at the gym!

What do you guys think of this?

I'll be your Lover & you can be my Hussy

I wanted to play around with the title of this review and it does sound kinda provocative doesn't it??? Little do people know the scandalous name that i am referring to is the Illamasqua Duo in Lover and Hussy.

This is the first ever duo blusher within the brand, so there was a lot of excitement going on! I have just managed to get hold of one recently and wanted to share my thoughts. Both these blusher shades can be purchased individually but it seems much more fun to have a duo to play around with.

The blushers are matte and super pigmented (like all Illamasqua blushers) and are not chalky or powdery. I was a bit wary of Hussy, purely because i don't tend to wear very pink blushes but OMG it looks amazing! Lover is a soft peachy apricot and Hussy is a bright, candy pink.

Without Flash
With Flash

The duo is perfect for mixing and layering, and you can have a different 'flush' of colour on your cheeks everyday! Both the shades are perfect for most skintones, however i think for very dark, deep skin, the colours may come up a bit ashy.

My overall thoughts? I am loving this! I find it convenient to have two shades in a palette and the pigmentation of these blushers are insane.

The duo blushers retail at £26 and can be purchased HERE.

Have you tried any of the Illamasqua Duo Blushes?

Less Is More

Over the last few weeks i have been wearing a minimal face to work. For me, waking up at 6.15 in the morning is tough and then thinking of putting on loads of makeup just puts me off.......hence a minimal makeup look.
I have been loving using my NARS Radiant Tinted Moisturiser because it just makes my skin glow, and gives enough coverage without feeling too heavy.
This is what I have been wearing most days:
NARS Radiant Tinted Moisturizer (REVIEW HERE)
YSL Touche Eclat (No. 3)

Bobbi Brown Concealer (Honey/Golden)
Ben Nye Banana Powder (REVIEW HERE)
Illamasqua Blush (Excite)

MAC Extra Dimension Skinfinish (Shape The Future)

Clinique Superfine Liner for Brows (Black/Brown)
MAC Brow Gel
Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Eye Pencil (REVIEW HERE)
L’Oreal Volume Million Lashes
Benefit Benetint

Korres Lip Butter (Quince)

Since the weather has gotten warmer, i have been skipping the eyeliner and just been applying mascara. I am enjoying the 'barely there makeup' and focusing more on my skin.
What has been your makeup recently?

Make Up Store Haul

A while back i was in Oxford Street and i needed to purchase a few bits for my makeup kit and i decided to visit the Make Up Store in Fouberts Place.

As soon as i went into the store, i saw rows and rows of different products, offering a variety of shades and textures. I wanted to pick up a good contouring and highlighting product in a cream formula but also some concealers.

The makeup artists in the store were helpful and so informative because i was asking about products for my upcoming asian brides. The highlighters really stood out to me and i was there for ages just swatching and playing around with the products.

I ended up picking up:
  • Studio Foundation (Coffee)
  • Cover All Mix (Dark)
  • High Tech Lighter (Asteroid/Sundust)
  • Eye Pencils (Emerald/Golden Days)

Cover All Mix Dark
High Tech Lighter 'Sundust'
High Tech Lighter 'Asteroid'
Studio Foundation 'Coffee'
Eye Pencils. Top: Emerald, Bottom: Golden Days
Left-Right: Asteroid, Sundust, Golden Days, Emerald.
Left-Right: Coffee, Cover All Mix Dark

I like how simple the packaging is because for me, i don't base my opinion around packaging, it's what the product does! I think sometimes brands get a bit too hyped up about the packaging, when it's the actual product itself you should be basing your opinions on. Don't judge a book by it's cover, judge it on it's contents! That's just my own opinion!

I love the consistency of the cream products, especially the foundation and highlighters. It is super creamy and easy to blend in. The concealer kit is highly pigmented and you need the tiniest amount! The eyeliners apply like butter and i only purchased two shades, even though there was a huge range of colours!

I actually can not wait to use them on my upcoming brides!

Unfortunately you can not order on The Make Up Store website, however they have two stores in London: Fouberts Place and Westfield London. You can also check out their products on the website HERE.

Have you tried anything from The Makeup Store?

NARS Paris Follies Larger Than Life Lip Gloss Review

I was browsing in Fenwicks the other day and as always, i decided to have a look at the makeup section and in particular, at NARS.

I instantly saw a lip gloss that was the most beautiful shade of coral and when the makeup artist tried some on me, i knew i wanted it!

Paris Follies is the ideal spring/summer shade to wear and it is a very flattering shade for all skin tones. Once applied, it makes your face look brighter, healthier and more glowing. Weird i know! This shade is described as a "flamingo pink", which i think is spot on.

The formula is much better than the regular lip glosses. It is more hydrating, plumping and very comfortable to wear. It doesn't have the plastic-y scent like their other glosses. The lip gloss is pigmented, but i would say it is semi-opaque because there is enough colour to give a punch but it isn't overpowering.

The Larger Than Life Lip Glosses don't have the standard doe foot applicator and have a very small brush, which is meant to enable precise application. However, sometimes this can be a bit time consuming but, this does allow you to define your lips and give a more fuller, plumper appearance.

For me, this is going to be my go to lip gloss for summer. I am just in awe with the colour, as i love coral shades! This makes my skin just glow (without even having to try!).

NARS products can be purchased HERE.

MAC Strobe Lotion Golden Elixir Review

Who doesn't want healthy, glowing skin? I know i do! I found the creme de la creme of glowing products.

One of MACs best selling products is their Strobe Cream and they have just released a golden version of this jewel with the new Temperature Rising Collection.

MAC's Golden Elixir is a golden based highlighter that can be used on its own on bare skin, mixed with moisturizer/foundation, or as an actual highlighter for your face. This is a rich, warm, golden shade that is awesome on all skin tones. Some people maybe a bit alarmed at first because it appears quite dark in the bottle, but once applied to the skin and blended, it gives your skin the JLO glow!

This can also be used over the body for a summery, golden glow. I would apply this to my shoulders, collar bone and on my legs 'cos i want to shimmer! I am certainly taking this on my next holiday!

Do you prefer the original Strobe Cream or the Golden Elixir?

Coral Lipsticks For Asian/Indian/Dark/Tanned/Olive Skin Tones

Coral and orange lipsticks seems to be one of those shades a lot of people love but don't tend to wear. For me, i think corals look beautiful on darker skin tones and i rummaged through my makeup collection and found a variety of shades, so i am certain there is going to be one for everyone!

There are those days where i don't want to wear a full on coral lipstick, so i like to rub it into my lips for a coral stain. Sometimes, i apply the lip colour all over my lips and then blot......this just takes away some of the brightness but still leaves the gorgeous tone of the coral.

KIKO Pigment Loose Eyeshadow Swatches

I am not going to tell you guys how much i love KIKO......it's kinda been established! However, this post is for a lovely friend of mine who had asked for swatches of all my KIKO Pigment Loose Eyeshadows.

The Pigment Loose Eyeshadows are very similar to the MAC pigments and Barry M Dazzle Dusts. They retail for £5.90 and have a wide colour variety.

Left-Right: 21/22/23/24 (Limited Edition)

Left-Right: 12, 13, 14, 16, 17, 18
Left-Right: 09, 13, 14, 16, 17, 18

I would recommend getting the Mixing Medium (review HERE) to make the pigment more intense, however they can be worn alone. All the swatches above were photographed in daylight and on their own, so without a primer and mixing medium.

KIKO products can be purchased HERE.
