Highlighters for Asian/Indian/Olive/Tanned Skin Tones

I have been meaning to do a post like this for some time and i kept on, today i decided i am going to sit down and write this post! I know this may seem like a lot of highlighters but i wanted to show you that there are many varieties of highlighters with different formulas, so there is something for everyone!

I love using highlighters because it adds a dimension to the face and can also emphasize your features. I normally use it on the tops of my cheekbones and the bridge of my nose. Also a highlighter will just add a healthy glow to the skin. Here are the some of the highlighters in my collection...........

Illamasqua Cream Blush Lies RRP £18. Read my FULL review HERE. This is a soft frosty, pink highlighter in a cream formula. It has a creamy texture and it very easy to blend. I normally use this on my cheekbones.

MAC Cream Color Base Pearl RRP £14.50. This has been my go to product for over a year and i took it travelling with me as well. I normally use this under my brows because it opens up my eye area much more. This is a multi-purpose product, so it can be used as eyeshadow as a wash of colour or on your cheekbones.

KIKO Exotic Highlighter Peach RRP £7.90. Read my FULL review HERE. I am currently obsessed with this highlighter. It has a mousse like texture and dries very quickly on the skin. It gives the skin the most gorgeous peachy sheen.

Benefit Sun Beam RRP £18.50. Read my FULL review HERE. I have been loving this highlighter and it's one of my favourite liquid highlighters. It is much warmer in colour and looks beautiful on tanned/olive skin.

NARS Multiple Palm Beach RRP £29. Read my FULL review HERE. This is a bronze highlighter and it is something i would wear if i have a tan or i am on holiday. The multiples are so handy because you can use them on the face, eyes, lips and cheeks.

Dior Amber Diamond RRP £29. This highlighter is divine! The shimmer is very fine and i like to apply this product with my fingers for a subtle highlight. It gives a delicate sheen to the skin without it looking OTT.

NARS Albatross RRP £21.  This came in my blush/bronzer trio and i had never thought about trying Albatross. This highlighter gives a golden sheen to the skin and looks as though it has been illuminated! Doesn't look sparkly unlike some highlighters.

Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick Nectar RRP £32. I have all the shimmer bricks from Bobbi Brown and i find myself always reaching for Nectar. This is stunning on darker skin tones because apricots/corals just enhance the skin. Sometimes i use this as a subtle blusher and other times as a highlighter. It is pricier compared to other brands but this will last you a very long time!

MAC Pigment Vanilla RRP £16.50. Read my FULL review HERE. A pigment that has multiple uses! A loose powder highlighter that can look peach, gold and yellow depending on the light. MAC pigments are very versatile and can be used on the face, eyes, cheeks etc.

MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Soft & Gentle RRP £21.50 - I purchased this recently and so far i am loving it! When using this, the skin appears radiant. I wouldn't suggest using this all over the face as it is not designed for that. I would recommend focusing on certain parts of your face i.e. cheekbones, bridge of nose, cupids bow.

MAC Strobe Cream/Lotion RRP £22.50. Read my FULL review HERE and HERE. I love both of these! They are exactly the same product and do the same thing but the lotion is a lighter version. I use this either over my moisturizer or mixed in with my foundation. It gives a gorgeous glow to the skin and makes the skin appear iridescent.

MAC Strobe Lotion

I hope this post has been helpful and give you all an idea of the many different highlighters there are available. What are your favourite highlighters?

My Hidden Gem: MAC Strobe Liquid Lotion

Over the past few weeks i have received many compliments on how good my skin has been looking. Now i haven't been using any different skin care products, so it took me ages to figure out what i had been using! Then it HIT me.......MAC Strobe Lotion!

A while back i had purchased MAC Strobe Liquid Lotion because i was finding the original Strobe Cream a bit to heavy for my combination skin. Now, i apply Strobe Liquid after my moisturizer and before my foundation. This is because my skin would naturally illuminate through the foundation.

Bare skin

After MAC Strobe Liquid Lotion

The days i am not wearing makeup, i mix a little into my moisturizer and voila, i am left with dewy, glowing skin! I also like to use this as a subtle highlighter on my cheekbones, shoulders etc.

Here's my other review on MAC Strobe Cream

MAC Strobe Liquid Lotion is £22.50 and can be purchased HERE

The Body Shop Tea Tree Body Wash Review

Recently i have had a few breakouts on my back and it was really frustrating, as i couldn't figure out what the cause was! I then popped to The Body Shop and decided to purchase the Tea Tree Body Wash. Tea tree is a natural antiseptic, therefore great for breakouts!

I noticed within a week my breakouts had started to clear up! I have been using this everyday and take it to the gym for my after workout shower.

It has a distinct tea tree smell, which i like, however it doesn't foam up as much as the other Body Shop shower gels. It doesn't dry out the skin and leaves it feeling super clean!

Overall, i am so impressed with this body wash and can't believe i saw the difference on my skin in such a short time!

The Tea Tree Body Wash is £6 and can be purchased HERE

Inglot AMC Pure Pigment #70 Review & Swatches

A few months back, i had purchased the Inglot AMC Pure Pigment in shade 70, that is a deep, shimmering teal. I already have another one of their pigments. For me, Inglot has such a wide variety of shades and there's much more choice in the pigments.

The pigment glides on very easily and can be worn as a wash of colour or layered on for a more vibrant and opaque look. I always wear Urban Decay Primer Potion and i have not experienced any creasing. These can be used as an eyeshadow and as a liner. Inglot have a product called Duraline, which transforms any powders into an intense liquid.

Like some pigments, there is a slight fall out. I would always apply my eye makeup first before doing my foundation. I use a MAC 239 brush to pat it onto my lids and a MAC 217 brush to soften and blend it out.

Swatch in daylight
Below i have used the pigment and applied Collection 2000 Glam Crystals Gel Liner in 'Dig It' over the top.

Inglot pigments are £12 and can be purchased HERE

Have any of you used Inglot AMC Pure Pigments? If so, which one is your favourite?

MAC Charged Water Skin Hydrating Mist Review

I thought it would be a good idea to invest in a hydrating mist for the winter months. This time of year my skin gets so dehydrated due to the cold and central heating. I decided to choose the MAC Charged Water, purely because i like the Fix+ range and thought this had to be just as good!

This is a refreshing and hydrating mist, which enhances makeup application. I tend to cleanse and tone my face, and then i spray this onto my skin. I let this settle into my skin and ensure it has absorbed before applying my moisturizer. The spray helps the skin absorb the moisturizer better.

I have found that my foundation applies beautifully and doesn't cling onto any dryness i may have on my face. I find it fab for spraying on after makeup, to stop my makeup from looking cakey. I love the aroma of this, purely because i adore all things citrusy! It is a blend of green tea and citrus and the charged water is fused with ions from a diamond, which leaves the skin revitalized.

MAC Charged Water Skin Hydrating Mist is £15 for 100ml and can be purchased HERE

Do any of you use facial mists? If so, which ones?

MAC Mixing Medium VS KIKO Mixing Solution

Many makeup artists use MAC Mixing Medium as a way of intensifying pigments or adhering glitters to the skin. The consistency feels just like water and normally i just put a drop onto my MAC 239 brush and then add the pigment. The Mixing Medium is a great way of stopping any fall out as well!

This is the water base mixing medium and there are some other versions, however this one is suitable to use around the eye area. This can only be purchased from the PRO Store only.

I have recently discovered a dupe which is quarter of the price and does exactly the same thing! It's the KIKO Mixing Solution, which is used for pigments etc and only costs £3.90! HERE

Below are swatches using MAC Nebula Pigment.

MAC Pigment 'Nebula'

MAC Pigment 'Nebula'. Left-Right: Nebula on its own, Nebula with MAC Mixing Medium, Nebula with KIKO Mixing Solution.

You can see the swatches look exactly the same with the different mixing mediums. Have any of you used the MAC or KIKO mixing medium?

Benefit Sun Beam Highlighter Review & Swatches

The Benefit Sun Beam highlighter has become one of my firm favourites. I have been using it nearly everyday since purchasing it.

It gives the most beautiful, golden glow to the skin and with my NC42 colouring, it compliments my skin tone perfectly. I have come across other ‘gold’ highlighters and they tend to be more on the orange side, however this one is pure gold.

I like applying this to my cheekbones because it catches the light beautifully and gives the skin that glistening look. Also if you’re exposing some skin when on holiday or in the hotter months, try applying it to the shoulders or the collarbone. Mixing it with your foundation would give your skin that subtle, golden glow.

I have noticed it doesn’t last too well on my bare, combination skin, however when I have used foundation etc, then it lasts all day. I personally think it needs a base to ‘hold’ on to.

This bottle will last you absolutely ages and for me it is very travel friendly, although I wouldn’t keep this in my handbag.

Overall, I love this product and am so happy I purchased it! I have a fascination with highlighters and I am glad to find one that is much warmer in colour! I honestly think that you won’t be disappointed if you tried this!

Benefit Sun Beam Highlighter costs £18.50 and can be purchased HERE

KIKO Water Eyeshadows Review & Swatches

I am a huge fan of KIKO cosmetics and when i was in Spain, i wanted to pop by KIKO. The water eyeshadows caught my eye and I couldn't leave the store without buying a few!

I believe these were limited edition a while back and due to the popularity, KIKO decided to re-release them in their permanent collection.  There are now 32 gorgeous colours to choose from.

These eyeshadows can be used wet or dry and are extremely pigmented when used wet. The texture is very smooth and easy to blend. The wear on these is incredible, as i have worn these for over 9 hours and no creasing! I did use Urban Decay Primer Potion underneath though.

The packaging is very simple and doesn't look cheap at all. It has a handy mirror, so you can do your makeup on the go, if you're one of those girlies! ;) The actual eyeshadow is ergonomically designed, so that you can pick up the right amount of product, also making it a quick and easy application.

Below are the shades that i picked up along with wet and dry swatches.

Left-Right: 202, 203 (wet and dry)
Left-Right: 204, 206 (wet and dry)
Left-Right: 207, 209 (wet and dry)
Left-Right: 210, 214 (wet and dry)
  233 (wet and dry)
Overall, i am so please i purchased these. I adore KIKO products and the fact that they are so reasonably priced, makes it an extra bonus!

The water eyeshadows retail for £8.90 and can be purchased at the stores in Westfield in London and online HERE

Do any of you have the KIKO water eyeshadows?
