Illamasqua Box Lipstick Review & Swatches

As i have mentioned previously, i have slowly fallen in love with Illamasqua products. A few months back, i had purchased a few things from their Beak Street Store in London and one of the things i picked up was the Box Lipstick.

This is a gorgeous red and looks so beautiful on. I had to make sure i had some lip balm on before i applied the lipstick, as i suffer from super dry lips.

I recieved so many compliments about the lipstick. I kept the rest of the makeup quite simple and the Box lipstick was the main focus of colour on my face. This lasted all evening on my lips......i am not joking either. I went out around 7pm in Spain and we had a little picnic whilst watching the sunset over Granada and then we went out for Tapas and drinks. It was still there when i got home that night!

Box lipstick is unbelievably pigmented and its a red that suits most skin tones. If you are looking for a red, try Box as you won't be disappointed.

I also like dabbing this on my lips for a subtle stained look when i don't want too much colour on my lips.

Illamasqua products can be purchased HERE and Box lipstick retails for £16.00.

Do you have any Illamasqua lipsticks? Which one should i purchase next?

Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré Review & Swatches

Back in July i travelled to Paris and whilst i was there i had to pop to a French pharmacy and Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré was one of the items on my list.

I purchased a duo pack for €17.89 which roughly equates to £14. I thought it was incredibly cheap at £7 each for a 75ml tube.

Many makeup artists use Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré and has recently become a 'cult' product amongst the blogger and YouTube community.

Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré was formulated by a dermatologist in Paris and was a plain, simple cream to use for all skin types, including sensitive skins. This product can be used as a cleanser, moisturizer, makeup remover and as a face mask.

Now going onto the actual product. I have combination skin with some dehydration and i had used this during the day but found it to be a bit greasy on my skin. However my dehydrated bits did not feel dry or tight at all.

However using it at night is a completely different story. I found after cleansing and toning, the moisturizer absorbed well into my skin. It didn't feel heavy, but still felt a tiny bit tacky when i touched my face.

My skin in the morning felt super smooth and well hydrated....the effect that it gives me is almost the same as the Clinique Repairware Intensive Night Cream.

Using it under makeup is another seems to glide on perfectly onto the skin and Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré acts as sort of a primer. The skin looks dewy and naturally glowy. This seems to help hide any flakiness on the skin when using foundation, as sometimes my foundation accentuates my dehydrated patches.

Overall i do like this product but i personally don't think it's a great moisturizer to use on combination to oily skins. I may try using this in the winter when my skin becomes much more drier and I will carry on using this as a night cream, as i like how soft and hydrated my skin is in the morning. The downside to this product is trying to get hold of it in the UK but I know Guru Makeup Emporium sells it HERE

Have any of you used Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré? Thought?

Enrapture Encode Totem Styler Review

I have always had problems with my hair, sometimes it’s wavy and other times it is just frizzy! I have always wanted defined curls! Now I have something that does that…….. The Enrapture Encode Totem Styler!

I love curls, I just think they are so beautiful on everyone and some people get put off using tongs, as they are sometimes very time consuming. However, with the Enrapture Encode Totem Styler, you can have defined curls within 15 minutes!

I have been using this a lot on my clients and they have been super impressed with the finish of the curls. I then managed to use it on myself and what can I say?????? Errrrrm I love this!  Why, you ask me? Well let me explain……….
It has 3 heat settings, 3 controls as well as 3 barrel zones. This can create 27 different looks and the titanium allows constant heat and it heats up super fast. The unique thing about these tongs is that you can control the different number of settings of the temperature and the barrel zones, which give many different “curls”.

The Enrapture Encode Totem Styler also includes:
·      LED on/off light
·      Removable stand
·      Heat resistant pouch
·      Styleguide
Enrapture are so confident in their products that they offer “Love it or your money back”. They give a 3 year guarantee with each tool.
The tongs have 3 heat settings, 1, 2 and 3……so what do they mean?
Loose – drop quicker
Tight hold

These are suitable for all hair types, even asian and afro hair! Over the years they have done extensive research to see how long a curl lasts with different heat settings.
On my thick, frizzy hair I can achieve tight curls within 20-25 minutes, depending on how slow I am being! I tend to get a ½ inch of hair and then curl away from my face.  The cord is fantastic because it moves along with you as it has a 3 meter swivel cord. With the look below, i used the 3:3:3 setting and then lightly put my fingers through the curls and then set with hairspray. I had so many compliments with how good my hair looked!

Setting: 3:3:3

Setting: 3:3:3

Setting: 3:3:3
It also has a mini flipper (which is the bottom clamp of the tong) and normally traditional tongs have a flipper that is the same length of the barrel. Whereas, the totem tong gives a more distinct tight curl. The titanium mini flipper means that the barrel heats up much quicker and gives you the option for a more freestyle natural looking curl.
When using other tongs, I have found that when I am doing the back of my head, I used to find it really difficult but these tongs are incredibly easy to use and you only need to use it for a few seconds to achieve a great looking curl. It amazes me how there are 3 settings, so if you want a loose curl you can just set it on 1 and for more tighter curls use setting 3. Now, what other tongs do that?!
The pouch has come in handy because it means I can put the styler away neatly or when I have been on freelance jobs I know I am not going to burn my entire bag lol!
I love the results and find that my hair holds onto the curl much better than other curling tongs that I have used. I tend to either spray with hairspray or use the Tigi Curls Booster Spray.

Below are some lovely ladies who tried out the Enrapture Encode Totem Styler and they were very pleased with the results!

Setting: 1:1:3
Setting: 2:2:2
I have been using this for almost 3 months now and I would not hesitate to purchase this as a gift for someone.  It retails at £74.99 and yes, it is a bit more pricier than the other tongs on the market but it honestly is one of the most unique tongs I have ever used. The quality of the product is exceptional, as it is made from titanium and a lot of research has gone into the design and use of this totem styler.

Maybelline Color Tattoo 24 Hr Turquoise Forever Review & Swatches

I have been looking for cream eyeshadows in a few different colours. Don't get me wrong, I love MAC paint pots, however they don't have many colours in their collection.

I then discovered the Maybelline Color Tattoo 24 Hr eyeshadows and i thought why not give them a try. I was immediately drawn to the turquoise shade, as i didn't have any cream eyeshadows in that particular colour.

The colour is an intense, vivid turquoise and comes out exactly how it is in the pot. On application it does tend to dry very quickly, so you have to work with the product before it dries. I tend to apply it with my fingers and do one eye at a time.

The pigmentation of this product is awesome! I was impressed that a drug store brand delivered such a highly pigmented product.

It stays put on your lids throughout the entire day and does not seem to crease, unlike other cream eyeshadows. When this says 24 hr, they weren't joking! The colour stays vibrant and doesn't even fade! As it dries waterproof, you will need a good waterproof eye makeup remover to take this off at the end of the day.

I personally can not comment on the 24 hr claim as i have never worn my makeup for 24 hours straight! In my personal opinion i don't think it's good for the skin to wear makeup for that long. Even on long haul flights, i tend not to wear any makeup.

The quality is incredible and the price you pay just tops that. I purchased mine from Boots at £4.99. I will be looking into purchasing a few more shades as i am impressed with the product and longevity.

Maybelline products can be purchased from Boots and Superdrug stores.

Topshop Makeup Haul! Neon Rose Blush, Pewter Eye Crayon & Polished Glow

Recently i popped into the large Topshop in Oxford Street and i wanted to check out their makeup collection. I tried very hard to control my spending and only splurged on three items......good huh??

The first thing i came across was this highlighter in a pot. I have such a wide variety of highlighters from powders to creams, however i have never seen a highlighter like the Topshop one.

I had previously thought this was limited edition but it seems to be a permanent in the collection. You only need a tiny amount of this highlighter, as a little goes a long way. The consistency feels like a mousse like texture and isn't the same formula as the MAC Cream Colour Bases.

The colour is a pearly pink and looks great on the skin if applied in the correct way. A note for darker skins is not to apply too much otherwise it won't look like a subtle highlight.

Apply this on your cheek bones, bridge of your nose and under the brows for a highlighted effect. I purchased this for £9, which i think is a great price to pay compared with the more higher end brands.

I then noticed this gorgeous blusher and i loved the finish effect is gave to the skin. It is a cream blush that has a matte finish. This is ideal for me, as i have combination skin and still want a flushed look but that is more matte.

This shade is a bright neon pinky coral. It appears very bright in the pan but once applied it adds a warm flush to the cheeks. It is very soft and creamy to apply and you can build up the colour if you want a more stronger look.

It is highly pigmented and i love the fact that it has a mirror, which makes it much more easier to touch up on the go. At £6, this is a bargain!

I love pencil/crayon eyeshadows and especially using them to layer on eyeshadow colours. The crayon is such a good product to use as a base for eyeshadow, as it makes the powder eyeshadow much more vibrant and makes it last so much longer. This is a pewter/gunmetal colour and when smudged in, it gives a smokey look.

This is creamy and easy to apply. I apply it to my lids and then smudge with my fingers or a brush. This dries to a matte finish and is crease proof once it has set......perfect for people with oily lids!

The crayon only cost me £5 and if you are looking for something reasonably priced that acts as a base for eyeshadow and doesn't crease, then i would suggest looking into these crayons. Topshop offer a variety of shades in the crayons.

Top: Crayon (Pewter), Middle: Glow (Polished), Bottom: Blush (Neon Rose)

Overall i think Topshop has some great makeup products and i will certainly be purchasing more. I just wish they offered a wider variety of colours, however i do have to say the products are of good quality.

MAC Set Powder Invisible Review & Swatches

I had one of these MAC setting powders in my kit years ago and sort of forgot about this powder, so when i was in the MAC Pro Store recently, i thought i would pick one up.

You get so much product for you money and this tub will certainly last you a very long time! You need very little of this product and lightly dust over the face. I would be cautious if using on darker skin, as you don't want to apply too much product and leave an ashy look.

The main qualities of this setting powder is that it leaves a matte finish. It contains micronized pigments and talc, which gives a soft finish. It is also finely milled so a light dusting of powder is all you need to set your makeup. This also photographs beautifully and doesn't give the "flash back" look unlike other white powders.

Sometimes foundations can have that oxidized look at the end of the day, especially if you have much more oilier skin. However using this powder stops the foundation from oxidizing, so your foundation looks the same in the evening as it did in the morning when you applied it! This is also great for minimizing pores and smoothing out the skin.

The setting powders come in a variety of colours and the problem is that you can only get it from the MAC Pro Store.

Top: Heavily Swatched. Bottom: Lightly blended (but you can still the effect & colour)

This is great at absorbing oil and keeps a matte look to the skin. The only downside is that you can't just quickly apply this in the morning, as you may accidentally apply to much and then have a horrible white cast on your face! This works well when you are wanting to set a heavier foundation, even though you can use it with other foundations and tinted moisturizers.

The MAC Setting Powders retail at £20.50

Have any of you tried the setting powders? Are there any others you would recommend?

Revlon Photoready Cream Blush 300 Coral Reef - Review & Swatches

Many of you know that i clearly have an obsession with coral blushes and i came across this blush whilst looking for the Revlon Just Bitten Balm Stains. I was instantly lured in by this shade! I love the size of this product, as i can just pop it into my handbag and re-apply throughout the day.

The cream blush is extremely easy to apply to the skin and has an almost silicone feeling when you apply it. It glides so easily when applying to the cheeks and is best to apply with your fingers.  This is a completely matte cream blush without any shimmer.

It is not super pigmented like other coral cream blushes on the market, for example Bobbi Brown Calypso Coral. The colour is subtle enough for most skin tones to wear and the coral still shows through. It's fabulous for people wanting to wear a coral shade but don't want to go towards the more brighter, bolder corals.

If you have more oilier skin then I suggest layering this blush with a powder blush on top, as it will make it last much longer on the skin. This is a great blush to wear on bare skin, it gives that "i have just exercised look". I would recommend that if you do have combination or oily skin and wanting to use this on bare skin, then apply a primer beforehand. If you have normal or dry skin then then i would just wear it as it is.

Compared with other cream blushes, it doesn't have that tacky or sticky feeling when i have applied it. It has a delicate sheen once applied but still feels matte on the skin. I love wearing other cream blushes but sometimes it is frustrating when it has a greasy feel to it!

Overall i am impressed with this blush and the colour. I like the sheerness of the coral and it isn't so overpowering. This shows up as a true coral colour on the skin and it is a shade that i think will look beautiful on fair, medium and tan skin tones.  It only cost me £5.99 as it is on offer in Boots at the moment.

The normal retail price is £7.99 and you can purchase it from Boots HERE

Make Me A Bronzed Goddess: NARS Casino Bronzer

Now i love bronzing up my skin just like any other girl and my favourite bronzer has to be the NARS Casino Bronzer.

I had been using NARS Laguna Bronzer, however with my tan it just wasn't showing up as much as i wanted, so i opted for the NARS Casino. Laguna will be used in the winter months, me thinks!

Sometimes i use Casino to contour, other days i use it as an all over bronzer. It gives that JLO bronzed look when used all over the face.

Casino is a much darker version of Laguna, and when using it as a contour i use the MAC 138 brush. It is the perfect contouring brush. For an all over face glow, i like using the MAC 168 brush.

The NARS bronzers are finely milled and have a subtle sheen to them. Its highly pigmented with gold reflects, giving the skin that sun kissed look. You hardly need much product at all. I just swirl my brush over once and that is more than enough for my face.

I have had my Casino bronzer for 9 months now and i am no where near hitting the pan. It will definitely be lasting me a while.

NARS Casino bronzer used all over the face.

NARS bronzers retail at £25 and can be purchased HERE

Do any of you use NARS bronzers?

Stand Out Sunday! MAC Strobe Cream

Who doesn't want glowing skin? I know that i certainly do! One of my secret gems to give me beautiful glowing skin is the MAC Strobe Cream.

It comes under the category 'skin care' because it is moisturizing but also has many antioxidants which give the skin that dewy look.

MAC Strobe Cream has more of a sheen than a glittery or frost finish and the particles are purple/pink based. It makes dull skin appear brighter and much healthier.

Sometimes i use this just mixed in with my moisturizer on those days where i don't want to wear makeup and other days, i apply it to my face just before my foundation. It gives a beautiful luminous look to the skin. If you just want a subtle glow to the skin, i would suggest applying this to the cheekbones, bridge of your nose and under your eyebrows.

MAC Strobe Cream retails at £22.50 for 50ml and can be purchased HERE

Do any of you use MAC Strobe Cream? Or what is you favourite product for glowing skin?
