TARTE Clean Slate 360° Creaseless 12-Hr Smoothing Eye Primer Review

Several months ago a very good friend sent me over some amazing makeup from the US and one of the products that really stood out was the Tarte Clean Slate 360° Creaseless 12-Hr Smoothing Eye Primer. It impressed me so much that i ended up purchasing a full size on my recent visit to New York.

I have been an avid user of the Urban Decay Primer Potion, however it does have much more colour to it and is a bit thicker in consistency. I have been loving using this eye primer because it feels much lighter on the lids and is almost colourless, whereas the UDPP has a flesh tone to it.

The Tarte Eye Primer has a much runnier consistency and the first couple of times i squeezed out too much, thinking i needed the same amount as the UDPP! It feels greasy upon application but settles onto the lid very well. The oils does sometimes separate in the tube, so you have to ensure to shake it beforehand.

This primer is just as good as the UDPP, and keeps the eyeshadows adhered to the lids all day without it creasing. It makes the eyeshadows appear much more vibrant and all eyeshadows look fabulous on my oily lids! I love how matte eyeshadows look when i have used this primer, and that eye makeup is pretty much waterproof and sweat proof!

Tarte's Clean Slate 360° Creaseless 12-Hr Smoothing Eye Primer has to be one of my favourite eye primers because of the liquid consistency, as others ones i have tried are cream based. I prefer the tube packaging, because it's more hygienic and you can use up every little bit of product.

Unfortunately this is only available in the US and i'm hoping Tarte will arrive in the UK very soon! It retails at $19 and can be picked up from Sephora, Ulta and on the Tarte website.

What are your thoughts on this eye primer?

  1. I only have Nyx's HD Primer and on the hot hot hot freaking hot weather here in Brazil, it just doesn't stays put, and i don't even have oily eyelids! When i try to blend the eyeshadow, the primer comes off together with the eyeshadow and ruins all the makeup look! I have sensitive eyes and i don't have time of taking off the eyeshadow and putting all over again. That pisses me off so much.
I'll try the Primer Potion from the Smoked Palette when it arrives.
I heard that sometimes you can have a little hard time on blending with the UDPP, it happens the same thing with this Tarte one?
Oh, and i have to say, i'm loving this Tarte packaging, it's so cute!

  4. QVCUK has started stocking Tarte products. Apparently more will be coming on the website soon which I'm excited about. Looking forward to trying a blush or 2.
