Milani Baked Blush Rose D'Oro Review

I feel as though i have an American beauty products theme happening on my blog and i apologize for that! I was sent nine of the Milani Baked Blushers from a friend and Rose D'Oro is one that i have been reaching for a lot.

This reminds me of the MAC Mineralize skinfinishes with the different coloured threads running through the blush. It is a dome shaped blush, however it comes in much bulkier packaging with a compartment underneath the blush containing a mirror and a brush. I have to say the packaging is much more sturdier than the MAC Mineralize blushes.

Rose D'Oro is a peachy gold blush with a shimmery finish. It has a lot of pigment and applies very evenly to the cheeks. This blush looks beautiful on tanned skin and saves me having to use highlighter, as it gives a subtle glowing, glistening look.

You don't need much product on the brush, and one of the most common mistakes is swirling the brush too much over the product, which creates some fallout. I prefer using the MAC 187 brush, as it picks up enough product without any fallout. I like stipling this onto my cheeks and building up the colour, because you can overdo the blush!

I can't use this on bare skin, because it would pretty much disappear from my oily face! I only use this when i have used a base, whether it's a tinted moisturiser or foundation. I feel that this blush does need something to adhere to, so i wouldn't recommend using this alone if you have oily skin.

I have heard that Milani can be found in some pharmacies in the UK, however it isn't readily available here like it is in the US. For all you guys living in the USA, Milani blushes are $7.99 and can be found at the majority of drugstores.

Have you tried any Milani Baked blushes?

TARTE Clean Slate 360° Creaseless 12-Hr Smoothing Eye Primer Review

Several months ago a very good friend sent me over some amazing makeup from the US and one of the products that really stood out was the Tarte Clean Slate 360° Creaseless 12-Hr Smoothing Eye Primer. It impressed me so much that i ended up purchasing a full size on my recent visit to New York.

I have been an avid user of the Urban Decay Primer Potion, however it does have much more colour to it and is a bit thicker in consistency. I have been loving using this eye primer because it feels much lighter on the lids and is almost colourless, whereas the UDPP has a flesh tone to it.

The Tarte Eye Primer has a much runnier consistency and the first couple of times i squeezed out too much, thinking i needed the same amount as the UDPP! It feels greasy upon application but settles onto the lid very well. The oils does sometimes separate in the tube, so you have to ensure to shake it beforehand.

This primer is just as good as the UDPP, and keeps the eyeshadows adhered to the lids all day without it creasing. It makes the eyeshadows appear much more vibrant and all eyeshadows look fabulous on my oily lids! I love how matte eyeshadows look when i have used this primer, and that eye makeup is pretty much waterproof and sweat proof!

Tarte's Clean Slate 360° Creaseless 12-Hr Smoothing Eye Primer has to be one of my favourite eye primers because of the liquid consistency, as others ones i have tried are cream based. I prefer the tube packaging, because it's more hygienic and you can use up every little bit of product.

Unfortunately this is only available in the US and i'm hoping Tarte will arrive in the UK very soon! It retails at $19 and can be picked up from Sephora, Ulta and on the Tarte website.

What are your thoughts on this eye primer?

Lush Mask of Magnaminty Review

I picked this mask up on a whim when i popped into my local Lush store because i had been suffering from constant breakouts and this was the product that was suggested. This has to be one of my favourite face masks for blemished prone skin because it does what it says!

Mask of Magnaminty is a multi purpose mask, so it can be used on the face as well as the body. It has effective ingredients, which help combat breakouts. The peppermint oil really stands out in this mask and feels extremely cooling on the skin. It also has aduki beans allowing the skin to gently exfoliate as the mask gets removed.

I have used this mask as an overnight treatment on specific areas, so if you have a spot rearing its ugly head, dab on a bit of this mask when you go to sleep.  In the morning, the spot is significantly reduced in size and redness is minimised. The only thing is it to be careful with your pillow case!

It comes in a plastic round jar in two sizes and i opted for the smaller tub because of the short shelf life. I like that it actually says who made the face mask, but also what exact month to use it by.
Hands down this is one of the best masks for blemished skin, and for £5.25 it is so much better than some higher end masks. Some of my family members have tried this product and they came back with positive feedback too! This is definitely one mask i will continue to repurchase because it can be used all over the body, is widely available and super cheap!

Have you tried this mask or any masks from Lush?

MAC Pro Conceal And Correct Palette Medium Deep Review

I know many of us women of colour are never just one shade of concealer, so when i saw this palette in the MAC Pro store, i knew it would be ideal for me!

My skin tone is always changing and i find it difficult to keep up with the different shades that i am! It's kinda annoying having three or four different shades of concealers and correctors in my makeup bag.

This palette pretty much has it all with 4 concealers and 2 correctors with the studio finish formula's. Some people aren't too keen on the studio finish formula, but i think if it is applied in the right way with a light hand, then it would work pretty well.

The concealers are very creamy and easy to blend. You can either apply the product with your fingers or with a MAC 224 brush. I like applying and blending with the 224 brush, because it goes on much more naturally.

Like most asian girls, i am left with dark, pigmented scars from past blemishes and i needed a product that was pigmented enough to cover the scars but isn't too heavy or cakey.

The packaging is sleek and simple with a clear top cover and a magnetic closure. This is the same size as the normal eyeshadow quads. I find this size not only perfect for my makeup bag, but also for my kit!

The shades you get with the medium deep palette is:
  • NC40
  • NW40
  • NC42
  • NW43
  • Rich Yellow Corrector
  • Burnt Coral Corrector

This type of concealer work best when set with a powder......for an oily gal like me, i have to use powder!

What i love about these concealers is that you can go from a super natural look or have heavier coverage. This palette is super convenient and is fantastic for those people whose skin tones are continuously changing throughout the year. This is perfect for my professional makeup kit too, because it saves on so much space!

The Pro Conceal & Correct Palettes retail at £35 and can be purchased HERE.

What are your thoughts on this palette?

Real Techniques Contour Brush Review

I had been putting off purchasing any Real Techniques brushes because i have so many brushes in my personal collection and i couldn't justify purchasing anymore! Well, Boots had an offer i couldn't resist, so i picked up The Core Collection.

Out of the entire collection, it was the contour brush which caught my eye. This brush is dense, extremely soft against the skin and it's tapered in a way that helps to contour the face. It doesn't feel scratchy on the face and buffs product in very well.

I use this for both cream and powder, but i like to pair this up with the Sleek Contour Kit, as the dome shape is ideal for applying this product to the hollows of my cheeks and blends out the colours to a natural finish.

This brush can be used for numerous things from contour, highlighting, blush and foundation but my preferred way of using this brush is purely for contouring.....i haven't found anything that is similar on the market.

Unfortunately this can not be purchased individually, however at £21.99 for the entire set, i don't think you can really go wrong.

Have you tried Real Techniques brushes?

Alpha-H Liquid Gold Review

Good morning everyone!! How are you all? It seems like it has been forever since i last blogged, but i am back today all refreshed after my holiday.....even though i am suffering a little bit of jet lag! Today i wanted to talk about the Alpha-H Liquid Gold and we have all heard the hype surrounding it.......does it live up to its expectations? It certainly does!

I purchased a mini bottle several months back from QVC and after finishing that bottle, i immediately repurchased it! Here is how the product is described:

'Alpha-H Liquid Gold is a powerful resurfacing and firming treatment for diminishing wrinkles, pigmentation and sun damage. This multi-action formula is enriched with silk proteins, licorice extract and Glycolic Acid. It works to jump start the skin’s metabolism, tightening enlarged pores and giving a brighter, clearer complexion.'

This product contains 5% glycolic acid, which is a chemical exfoliant. In basic terms, it eats away at the dead skin cells in a gentle way. It is best to use this at night because your skin regenerates whilst you are sleeping, so the product will work much more effectively.

Liquid Gold is very similar in appearance to that of a toner, and you are meant to apply this to the face every other day after you have cleansed your skin. You can apply a serum or a moisturiser after using this product, but if you wish to have a more intensive treatment, then you wouldn't apply anything after using Liquid Gold.

I have been using this product for over four months and have noticed a significant difference in my skin. It helps with pigmentation where i have scarring left from spots, and my skin appears much more brighter and radiant. My face feels softer and smoother and my makeup applies beautifully after i have used this.

A lot of people may get put off by the price, however i haven't been able to find anything similar to this in the drugstore. It is £31.50 for 100ml or £44.95 for the 200ml super size.

What are your thoughts on the Alpha-H Liquid Gold?

A Hint Of Chocolate.......

I have always been a black kohl pencil girl, however as i have gotten older i prefer the softness a brown pencil on my waterline. Black gives a very smoky and smoldering look, and i personally think it's a bit too harsh for day wear, which is why a chocolate coloured pencil is perfect.

With brown eye pencils, they are perfect for everyone of all different skin tones and eye colours. It adds definition to the eye area without looking like a racoon and it's great for those who don't like using a black pencil.

*Pixi Endless Silky Eye Pen (CopperGlow)

The Pixi Silky Eye Pens glide on like butter and feel silky upon application. The shade is a warm brown, with almost a red undertone. It is one of the most softest eye pencil i have ever felt, however i have noticed that it does smudge on the inner corner of my eye and doesn't last too long on my waterline.

KIKO Vibrant Eye Pencil (603)

This is my favourite pencil out of the lot because it is a very dark brown but not dark enough that it looks black. It is extremely creamy and soft to use on the waterline, and it's the very few pencils that stays put without smudging. It's also the cheapest out of all five brown pencils.

*Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil (Corrupt)

Corrupt is a shimmering deep brown with intense pigmentation. The pencil is very smooth to apply and lasts a good 4-6 hours on my waterline. It has tiny gold flecks in it, but the gold doesn't overpower the brown and looks quite subtle.

MAC Eye Kohl (Teddy)

I love this colour, it is a warm brown with gold shimmer running through it. Like all MAC pencils, it doesn't tug at the skin, very soft to apply and doesn't move around on the waterline. I can't wear this on my waterline because it appears a more reddy brown, which kinda makes me look ill! I still like using this on my upper and lower lash line though.

Makeup Forever Aqua Eyes (2L)

This eye pencil is great if you live in a hot, humid climate, as it is pretty much smudge proof and waterproof. It is a deep bronzy brown shade and applies like a dream. I find this is great to wear on the upper lash line or to use as a waterproof base for eyeshadow, however it barely shows on my waterline, so i tend to use this on my lower lash line.

What are your favourite brown eye pencils?

New Years Beauty Resolutions

We all know that everyone has New Years Resolutions, whether it be going to the gym, saving money or whatever....however, i have decided to make some beauty resolutions that i will try my very best to stick to!

  1. I must use up my products before opening a new bottle! I can't tell you how many lotions and potions i have that are open. I have decided before i can even think of buying, opening and trying a product, i have to finish the existing open one in my collection.
  2. Have a bubble bath at least once a week. I'm a shower freak and find it so difficult to take an hour off and have a bath. It's a great way to unwind from the daily grind.
  3. Do an oil treatment on my hair once a week. I'm quite simple when it comes to my hair care routine, but one thing i want to do is put oil in my hair. I know it's not the most glamorous thing in the world, but it makes such a difference to my hair.
  4. Stop buying so much makeup! I will always admit that i buy way too much (for my personal collection) and the funny thing is, i wear very natural makeup on a daily basis! I actually want to save my money for the future (InshAllah - God willing) and also donate more to charity.
  5. Have a frequent makeup clear out. I think it is important to either bin, sell or giveaway makeup that i am no longer using, as i don't see the point in having it. To be honest it gets to a point where you don't even realise what you have and don't end up using it.
  6. My final one is to frequently do makeup tutorials and blog more. Over the last couple of months, work was crazy and i just didn't have time to sit down and film tutorials. I guess this one is more about being organised!
If there is anything particular you want to see on my blog or on my Youtube Channel, please let me know!

What are your New Years Beauty Resolutions?
