Illamasqua The Sacred Hour Collection

Illamasqua recently launched a new collection called The Sacred Hour* and it was inspired by the sacred hours of dawn and dusk. I admire how creative Illamasqua is for coming up with different, and unique collections.

Velvet Blush - Peaked (£18)

Velvet blushers seem to be a new thing that is coming out in the makeup world. These blushers are a cream to powder blush and is fantastic for oily skin......we all know cream blushers don't even last five minutes on oily skin! This is a great product, as you have the benefit of a cream blush but the finish of a powder. Peaked is a gorgeous dusky rose and would compliment any skin tone. You only need a very small amount, and it blends out effortlessly. You can use a brush or your fingers.

Lipstick - Shard (£16.50)

I adore this colour! Shard screams out everything to do with fall! This is the perfect autumnal lipstick and suits pretty much everyone. It is a very dark berry with a matte finish, however i would recommend using a good lip balm before applying this lipstick, as it can be a bit drying.

Nail Polish - Facet (£14.50)

Facet is almost a dark purple, grey nail polish with specks of gold. Again, this is a beautiful polish for autumn.

Left-Right: Facet Nail Polish, Peaked Velvet Blush, Shard Lipstick.

I think the Illamasqua have done an amazing job by creating these products, because there is something for everyone. I'm actually tempted to purchase the other velvet blush and the reflection palette!

All products from The Sacred Hour can be picked up online HERE.

Urban Decay Vice 2 Palette Swatches

I wanted to share this gorgeous new limited edition palette from Urban Decay. They have released a Vice 2 palette and we all know the original Vice Palette sold out very quickly last year! Beware this post is picture heavy!!!

I wasn't sure whether or not i wanted to get this palette, because i have so many of the Urban Decay palettes but when i went into store to swatch the eyeshadows, i was blown away!!

The eyeshadows are insanely buttery and smooth! I only had to swipe once and each swatch is just super pigmented! These colours are so rich in texture, with a mixture of mattes, metallics and duochromes. The palette also comes with a duo ended brush and a huge mirror.

I only got the palette earlier today but wanted to put swatches up, to give you guys an idea on how the eyeshadows look on darker skin. All these swatches have been photographed in natural day light.

Left-Right: Smokeout, Lovesick, Shellshock, Coax, X-Rated

Left-Right: Prank, Madness, Strike, Stash, Poison.

Left-Right: Radar, Damaged, Voodoo, Betrayal, Derailed.

Left-Right: Dope, Toxic, Habit, Ambush, Rewind.

This palette is retailing at £42 and can be picked up from Debenhams or House of Fraser. My first impression of this palette is that i am blown away by the variety of shades and also how pigmented the eyeshadows are. If you are wanting to get your hands on this palette, get it quickly, as i think it's going to sell out very soon!

What do you think of the Vice 2?

Sugarpill Burning Hearts Palette Swatches

Evening everyone! I am so sorry for being MIA for so long! Work has been extremely busy and it's getting busier by the second!

I wanted to share with you guys one of the most beautiful and pigmented palettes i have ever seen. This isn't going to be a review, as i haven't had much time to properly use it, however i wanted to show you how insanely pigmented and vibrant this palette is!

I have never purchased anything from Sugarpill before and this palette just stood out! This palette is packaged in a sturdy cardboard palette, but it seems quite durable. It has a magnetic closure, as well as a big mirror.

There are four colours that come in the palette:

Flamepoint - Vibrant matte orange
Buttercupcake - Bright, matte yellow
Love+ - Bright red with a slight sheen finish
Poison Plum - Dark purple with a slight sheen

The swatches below are on bare skin with no primer used. When i first swatched the eyeshadows i couldn't get over how pigmented they were and there was no chalkiness or fallout.

Left-Right: Flamepoint, Buttercupcake, Love+, Poison Plum.

These eyeshadows are much more vibrant and pigmented than some of the MAC eyeshadows i own and I can not wait to start using this palette to create some looks with it!

Pür Minerals® Lava Rocks Review

I didn't even know that Marks & Spencers did a makeup range.......i guess i must have been hiding under a rock! Anyhew, let me talk about these beautiful little rocks.

When these first arrived on my desk, i thought the *Pür Minerals® Lava Rocks were the most delicate, fiery looking lava rocks and they were just too precious to touch! Once i had stopped awing them, i was wondering how it could be used.

These gems can be used in a variety of ways: eyeshadow, contouring, blush or adding some warmth to the skin. The best way to apply this product, is by using a brush, that way you will get an even distribution of the product.

The colour of these lava rocks are insane, i actually thought they were going to be quite sheer but the contoured look it gave was incredible! I have found them super pigmented, silky to apply without any fallout. The lava rocks have a sheen finish when it's on the skin, which gives the face a glow.

I'm not sure if they will be travel friendly, just because there is no seal to keep the lid in place, so you may open up your bag to find the rocks everywhere!

Pür Minerals® retails at £29.50 and can be purchased HERE.

Benjabelle Brush Tree Review - Perfect Way To Dry Brushes!

Sometimes i find it such a chore to wash my brushes, and considering i have loads, it just takes ages! Not only that, i have to find a place to lay down about 30 odd brushes so they can dry!

I was lucky enough to be sent the *Benjabelle Brush Tree a few months back and this has made it so much easier for my brushes to dry. Why you say? Lets just say all my brushes can now dry in one place without taking up a lot of space and it's out of the way!

The Benjabelle Brush Tree can also be used as a way of storing your brushes, but i prefer using it to dry my brushes that have just been cleaned. I like how this is designed, because it means that all the brushes dry together and evenly and much quicker than before, which eliminates any bacteria build up.

There are little rubber slots, where you place your brushes upside down and the rubber keeps hold of the brush whilst it's drying. Sometimes for smaller brushes, i will place about 3 or 4 in the same rubber slot, because the slots are quite large and the thinner brushes (like eyeliner brushes) tend to slip out. I also put my washed beauty blenders on the top to dry.

Ula-La-Beauty has kindly given my readers 15% off the Benjabelle brand until the 10th of October 2013. Make sure you guys use the discount code YazMakeUp15 at the checkout!

The Benjabelle Brush Tree retails at £30.99 and can be purchased HERE.

NARS Ride Up To The Moon Palette Review + Swatches

I purchased this a while back along with the another NARS palette, Fairy's Kiss (full review HERE) and wanted to give you my thoughts on this one. I love NARS palettes, as i find them super convenient but also better value for money considering a single NARS eyeshadow retails for £18.

Let me tell you one thing about this palette, it doesn't disappoint! I was kinda bummed about the Fairy's Kiss palette but Ride Up To The Moon exceeded what i was expecting! The packaging is the standard NARS packaging and the newer eyeshadow palettes seem to be a bit smaller than the previous one. I'm not gonna waffle about the packaging to be honest!

Shall we talk about the nitty, gritty?! This palette has six shades and only one is limited edition, so the other five are from the permanent collection. In my opinion, this palette has very earthy colours and shades which compliment each other. These eyeshadows will suit all skin tones and can be worn very lightly, or heavy for a smokey look.

When i was using the palette recently, the eyeshadows were a dream to blend. There was hardly any fall out and was super buttery on application. There are five shimmery shades and one matte, but when i say shimmery, i mean it has more of a satin finish.

Argentina (L.E) - Light pale gold.
Isolde - Golden, copper
Night Porter - Shimmery, ivy green.
Biarritz - Flesh, toned matte. (great transitioning colour)
Fez - Deep chocolate.
Cordura - Dark, metal brown with flecks of gold.

Left-Right: Argentina, Isolde, Night Porter, Biarritz, Fez, Cordura.

I love this palette and i like that there's a green thrown in, as most neutral palettes tend to stick with the brown family. I found when looking at swatches online, Night Porter appears more blacky, green, however on my skin tone, it shows up as a true green. For me the formulation was perfect and i think it's one of those palettes you can take away with you and not have to take any other eyeshadows.

I think if you are contemplating getting this as a gift for someone (or yourself), purchase it asap, as it honestly won't be around for too long!

NARS Ride Up To The Moon Palette retails at £32 and can be purchased HERE.

The Perfect Lip Balm? Korres Quince Lip Butter Review

Normally, i am not one to do reviews on lip balms, because lip balms are lip balms right? Well, lets just say the Korres one isn't a typical lip balm.

I have been using this for several months now and wanted to share my thoughts with you guys. The Korres Lip Butter has to be one of the most moisturising balms i have ever used and trust me i have used a lot!

I use this day and night, and carry this everywhere with me. I do admit, the pot isn't the most convenient, but it's so small and handy, that it is good for keeping in your handbag.

The texture is a very thick and buttery ........kinda like the name! Even though it is thick, it applies onto the lips very smoothly and almost has a nice silky feeling to it. This lip butter does keep your lips moisturised for a good few hours before you have to reapply, however if you have really dry and flaky lips, then the tint may emphasise the dryness.

The Korres Lip Butters come in a variety of shades and i did pick up a few more, but Quince has to be the one I'm using the most. Quince is a sheer rose shade with a hint of a rosy scent, and it's not a strong scent either but very subtle.

I like how these lip butters have a tint, because they are quite noticeable on the lips, so it's great for people who don't wear a lot of lip makeup but want something on their lips that is hydrating too. I love layering these lip butters over lipsticks or lip tints.

I managed to pick these up for about £4 a couple of months back and can see some websites retailing it for £8 now. At the time of purchase, i think these were purse friendly, however i am really not sure why there has been such a hike in the price!

What is your favourite lip balm/butter?
