Elemis Tri Enzyme Review (Before & After Pictures)

I decided to set myself a 30 day challenge using the Elemis Tri Enzyme range. Many of you know that the last few months i have had a lot of scars left from blemishes and also that my skin hasn't been looking that even. Check out my Clear, Even Skin Goal blog post HERE explaining what i was aiming for and what products i had been using.

I have taken before and after pictures, because i wanted to find out if this range truly lived up to what it was claiming. I wanted to use the whole collection together, as it just makes much more sense right?

Elemis Tri Enzyme Resurfacing Facial Wash* £29

This isn't a typical facial wash because the first thing that i noticed was that it didn't foam up. To me it was an exfoliating cleanser but a cleanser that doesn't remove makeup. I liked to use this as my second cleanser, after i had removed all my makeup. It gently sloughs away dead skin cells and stimulates the skins natural cell renewal cycle, so it leaves brighter skin.

It is recommended that you use this twice a day, however i started using this at night only and then as my skin got used to the product, i then incorporated it into my morning routine. It feels like a light gel consistency and has the most amazing light, floral scent!

It is highly recommended when using this product, you use an SPF 30 to protect your skin.

Elemis Tri Enzyme Resurfacing Serum* £98

This serum should be used under your moisturizer day and night. Even after a few days, i started to see an improvement in the texture of my skin and the scars were slowly fading. The serum felt silky to apply to the skin and i only needed about a pump to cover my entire face. Again, the scent was exactly the same as the Elemis Tri Enzyme Resurfacing Facial Wash. It instantly absorbed into my skin and left no greasy or oily residue.

Elemis Tri Enzyme Resurfacing Night Cream* £85

When i first saw this cream, i thought 'this is going to be way to thick for my skin type'.......boy was i wrong! The texture appears quite thick in the jar but when its applied, it feels almost like a thick gel consistency. This night cream absorbed easily into my skin and didn't feel oily at all. It has been leaving my skin super soft and i have noticed that there has been no flakiness around my nose area.

Elemis Tri Enzyme Resurfacing Gel Mask* £48

I love this mask! It is so unique when compared with other masks that i have used. This is a gel based mask and feels very icy and cooling on the skin. It does tingle a bit but not in a bad way! I have been using this for about twice a week in conjunction with the other products from the tri enzyme range.

This mask has enzymes, which smooths out the skin surface, helps uneven skin texture and balances the pH level of the skin, so it is left shine free. After i used this mask for the first time, i did notice my skin was looking much more softer and even.

I am thrilled with this range! At first i was a bit dubious because i thought i wouldn't see a difference for at least a few weeks but i honestly noticed the improvement in my skin after a couple of days of using the range.

You can see from the before and after picture, how much my skin has changed for the better in just a month! FYI, my skin tone is much darker, as i have recently returned from Egypt. The only downside is the price, as it is a bit steep for the entire range. If you wanted to try out the range but didn't want to spend a lot of money, i would suggest the travel sizes, which will get you a good few uses and you would be able to get an idea if you like the range or not.

If i could recommend one product, i would probably choose the Elemis Tri Enzyme Resurfacing Serum, because the serum has improved my skin so much that i can barely see the blemish scars.

Elemis products can be purchased online HERE.

What do you think of the Tri Enzyme range?

Elemis White Flowers Eye & Lip Make-up Remover Review

I am a person who wears a lot of eye makeup and it is important to use a separate eye makeup remover because we all know that no matter what cleanser you use, it will never remove 100% of the eye makeup.

The Elemis White Flowers Eye & Lip Make-up Remover* is a bi-phase product that has an oil phase and a water phase. Before it can be used you must shake the bottle for both phases to mix together. I actually prefer bi-phase eye makeup removers because i find that they remove stubborn makeup very well, especially waterproof makeup and it can also be used on the lips too.

When i apply it to my lids, it feels very cooling and refreshing. It removes all my makeup without any eyelashes coming out and trust me that has happened a few times! It is very gentle on the eyelids and great for those who have sensitive eyes.

This does leave an oily residue on the eyelids, so maybe not be for those people who don't like oily products! I personally love this and i am so happy Elemis have finally got an eye makeup remover! I actually prefer this one to my Clinique Take The Day Off!

The Elemis White Flowers Eye & Lip Make-up Remover retails at £19, however there are authorised retailers that are selling it for less.

What's your favourite eye makeup remover?

My Collection of NYX Blushers

I am a bit late on the bandwagon for NYX blushes but i am so, so, so happy i have them in my life now! I don't have many drugstore blushes and these were the ones i was keen on getting hold of. I managed to pick a couple up from IMATS and the rest i ordered online.

These little pots of blushes are super pigmented and not chalky. I have sometimes found it difficult to find drugstore blushes that compliment my skin tone and these certainly do!

NYX blushes are packaged in a black casing with a clear top. I prefer blushes having clear tops, as it makes it so much easier to find a particular shade. I'm not too fussed on the packaging, because for me its what the product does! I love the quilting pattern on the blushes! I think it makes them a bit different to other drugstore brands.

These blushes blend very well but i do find on my oily skin, the wear time is probably about 5 hours before it has started to fade.

This first blush has to be my favourite out of the powder blushes. It is called Cinnamon and is a bright, matte orange, however on my skin, it looks more peachy. I think on fairer skin tones it will look a lot more orange. It has a pinky undertone to it and when applied to tanned or darker skin, it appears like a coral blush.

The next blush is Mocha and it is a shade that appears much more pinky on my darker skin. In the pan it looks like a terracotta/pink. I think Mocha is one of those blushes that suits most skin tones because the pink looks different on each person. For more lighter skin tones, it will look like a brighter pink.

The final blush is Pinched, which a lot of people say is a dupe for NARS Orgasm (separate post will be done). Pinched is a shimmery, peachy pink with gold shimmer. I have found that it's quite sheer, and does need to be built up. This is a shade that will suit all skin tones.

The next 2 blushes that i am going to talk about is the cream blushes. I do like wearing cream blushes, especially in the summer because i like layering my cream and powder products together to give some longevity to the cheek colours. I find the cream blushes very buttery and easy to blend. They don't leave a greasy or tacky feeling to the skin. I would suggest applying this with a stippling brush because it would be easier to blend. It gives the skin, the most beautiful dewy appearance.

Red Cheeks blush is a bright red, however when applied with a light hand and blended, it gives the skin a gorgeous pinky bluish flush to the skin. This maybe a colour that is a tad difficult to wear, however on fair skin, it will look absolutely stunning.

The final blush is Orange, and it looks like a bright tangerine orange in the pan but when applied to the skin, it is a more peachier orange. This is a shade that can be worn on all skin tones, but will enhance more tanned, dark complexions.

Left-Right: Red Cheeks, Orange, Pinched, Mocha, Cinnamon

I am very impressed with NYX blushes, not only are they super affordable, but they are extremely pigmented. I can not fault them at all, however i do wish they were in stores here in the UK, as it is very difficult to get an idea of the shades online and how they will look on my skin. Will i be purchasing more??! Errrr yes!!

NYX blushes start from £5.50 and can be purchased online HERE.

Have you tried any NYX blushes? Recommendations?

GlamGlow Super Mud Clearing Mask Review

Who doesn't want clearer, brighter skin? I know that i certainly do! Blackheads and congestion has been the bane of my life since my teens, so when the GlamGlow Super Mud Clearing Mask* arrived in the post, i was eager to give it a go!

This is a detoxifying mask that draws out any impurities from the skin but also makes the skin much more smoother and even. It de-clogs blocked pores and also prevents any future breakouts. You can see from the above picture that the mask has some chunky bits in it, which helps with the exfoliation of the skin.

I was keen on seeing the effects of using this mask, so i applied a thin layer over my entire face and left it on my skin for about 15 minutes. You can just wait for the mask to dry and then remove it, but i wanted to keep it a bit longer on my skin, due to the congestion around my nose!

I know this may look disgusting, but as my mask was drying, little dots on my nose started to appear! This was the mask pulling out the congestion around my nose area! I loved seeing this because that meant the mask was working!

Once i had removed the mask, i noticed how much smoother and brighter my skin was. My face didn't feel tight or dry, it just felt normal. I also noticed how less congested my nose was. My skin felt like i had actually had a facial......you know that clean, soft feeling?

I noticed that even after removing the mask, there was still some residual stuff coming out......gross i know! I am super impressed on how this mask extracts the gunk from your face!

This has exceeded my expectations because i honestly didn't expect a mask to make so much difference, especially to congested skin. I do find that it is a lot of money, however you can get about 17 full face applications or 1000 spot treatments. I probably wouldn't use this every week, maybe once every few weeks, but i honestly think there's something magical in that jar!

GlamGlow Super Mud Clearing Mask retails at £44.99 and can be purchased HERE.

Is this a mask you would want to try?

Pixi Spring/Summer 2013 Event + Products

A while back, i attended the Pixi event in Carnaby Street for their SS13 releases. Unfortunately, all my pictures from the event managed to get deleted! Boo hoo! However i thought i would share with you some of the new and exciting products! Beware this post is picture heavy!

Eye Glow Cube* £18

16 eyeshadows in a cute little cube, and has a mixture of shades that can be worn day or night.

Endless Silky Eye Pen (Oyster Glow/Copper Glow)* £11

I love these! They are exactly like their name, extremely silky, highly pigmented and don't budge when you have applied them.

Lid Last Shadow Pen (Shell Sheen/Brun Beam)* £12

These chubby crayons are super pigmented and give a soft focus effect. Great for keeping in your hand bag and convenient to use on the go.

Tinted Brilliance Balm (Craving Coral/Radiance Rose)* £12

A glossy, gel balm that hydrates and give the lips a boost of colour. As the balm wears off you are left with a natural looking stain.

Left-Right: Oyster Glow, Copper Glow, Shell Sheen, Brun Beam, Radiance Rose, Craving Coral.

Bronze Sculpt Trio* £16

This is a combination of a contouring/bronzer kit and is huge! I like how it has 3 shades in one compact, so you can mix the colours around.

Shade Quartette (Shades of Taupe)* £16

Four cool taupe shades, that are very silky and easy to blend. I like how it has a mixture of mattes and shimmers.

Left-Right: Shade Quartette Shades of Taupe, Bronze Sculpt Trio.

I will be doing in depth reviews of each of the products later on, however i wanted to show you how much variety there is at Pixi and some of the products that have been launched. I have used Pixi in the past and one of my favourite products is the summetime bronzer.

Pixi can be purchased online HERE.

Is there anything that catches your eye?

Drugstore Products Worth The Hype

I thought i would share with you some of the drugstore products that i think are worth the hype!

Soap and Glory Kohl Smolder

This has got to be one of the best drugstore kohl pencils i have ever tried! I have been using it recently and trust me when i say this eyeliner doesn't budge! This kohl pencil stayed put all day and evening. I had to use a good eye makeup remover to take this off!

Wet n Wild Palette

Incredible palettes at ridiculously cheap prices! The 8 shadow palettes are great for creating a day/night look. They are super pigmented and blend very well. The palettes are very travel friendly. The only downside is that they are hard to find in the UK.

Sleek Contour Kit

A holy grail item for me! I have it in both medium and dark and i am obsessed with them! The powder kit makes it super easy for anyone to contour parts of their face and fab for a newbie into makeup. The highlighter in the kit compliments my skin tone beautifully!

MUA Eye Primer

The perfect dupe for UDPP! The MUA Eye Primer does a fantastic job of keeping my eyeshadows in place all day without any creasing and i have super oily lids! Now doesn't that say something?!

MUA Brow Kit

One of my favourite drugstore products. I love having naturally defined brows and the MUA Brow Kit has everything you need in one place. I also use the lighter shades as transitioning colours for smokey eye makeup or highlighting under the brow.

VIVO Healthy Glow

I reach for this highlighter more than my higher end ones, now that is saying something! This is a fantastic highlighter because it gives the high points of my face a healthy sheen without it looking too shimmery. The VIVO range can be found at larger Tesco stores.

KIKO Lipsticks

I love the colour range that KIKO have and also the variety of textures. Their lipsticks are super creamy and extremely pigmented.

L'Oreal Volume Million Lashes Mascara

My favourite mascara! I use this every single day and in the majority of my tutorials. It gives the lashes volume and length without any clumping!

NYX Blush

These tiny pots of blush can give a punch of colour! They are super pigmented and there is an array of colours to choose from. The one issue is that you can only get it online.

I personally think some drugstore items can be a hit or a miss, and the one thing that i always struggle to find is base products for my skin tone, however i love trying out other face makeup like blushes, eyeshadows etc.

What are your favourite drugstore products?

Travelling Skin Care/Make Up Essentials

Some of you may know that i went to Egypt last week and i wanted to show you my essentials that i always take with me when i am travelling.

I always try to take the least amount of products when i go on holiday but that doesn't always happen! I very rarely wear makeup on the plane and if i do, it will be the basic face. I personally don't like wearing makeup on a flight, purely because flying can dehydrate your skin and the way i see it, wearing makeup on a long flight is just as bad as falling asleep with your makeup on.

Skin Care and Grooming

  1. Clinique Liquid Facial Soap - A simple and foaming face wash. I always take these little tubes away with me, as they are so convenient.
  2. Clinique Clarifying Lotion (BLOG POST) - I am one of those people that have to use toner regardless of where i am!
  3. Clinique Even Better Moisturiser - My everyday moisturiser that is fabulous to even out your skin but also has an added bonus of an SPF 20.
  4. Clinique Exfoliating Scrub - I aways love using a scrub, as it gets rid of any dead skin and leaves even brighter complexion.
  5. MAC Cleanse Off Oil - Perfect cleanser that removes all makeup, including waterproof mascara.
  6. Elemis Freshskin Skin Clear Treatment Gel - Whenever i go on holiday, there is always one zit that will show up, so i always take a spot gel to prevent any breakouts!
  7. Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Concentrate - I took this in case my skin decided to play up and i am so glad i did! This helped repair my skin from any breakouts that i had.
  8. Clinique Deep Comfort Hand Cream - A rich and buttery hand cream that i needed! With all the watersports i was doing, my hands were getting super dry.

Sun Protection

  1. Bioderma Photoderm Max* (BLOG POST) - My favourite sun protection product! Can be used on the face and body and has an SPF of 50. This doesn't feel sticky nor greasy on my skin and is water resistant!
  2. Boots Aftersun - Keeps your skin hydrated and soft after being in the sun all day.
Makeup

  1. Smashbox Primer Light - One of the best primers for oily skin! My makeup tends to slide off whenever i am in a hot country and this primer keeps my makeup looking fresh throughout the day.
  2. NARS Tinted Moisturizer (BLOG POST) - My holy grail tinted moisturiser! I love this stuff! It gives a bit more coverage compared with other tinted moisturisers, and it saves me taking a foundation.
  3. KIKO Waterproof Top Coat Mascara  - I prefer using my normal mascaras, as i find waterproof mascaras don't give the oomph that a regular mascara does. This 'top coat' is applied on top of your regular mascara, so you get the benefit of your normal mascara, and it's waterproof!
  4. YSL Touche Eclat (BLOG POST) - Ideal complexion highlighter for hot weather and hiding those under eye circles from all those late nights!
  5. Benefit Benetint - I am obsessed with tints/stains when going away, as these stay put! I use this on my lips and cheeks for a natural flushed look.
  6. Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray* - For an oily gal like me, i need a setting spray! When away, i would only use this for evenings out because it saves me having to touch up throughout the night and it keeps my makeup lasting all night.
  7. Pencil Eyeliners - Who doesn't wear eyeliners? I took three with me, Soap & Glory Kohl Smolder, Rimmel Scandal Eyes and Pixi True Teal*.
  8. Bobbi Brown Face Touch Up Stick - Perfect concealer for covering blemishes and it stays put even in hot weather!
  9. MAC Blot Powder - This powder sets all makeup and also blots excess oil, so it keeps shine away!
  10. Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Lip Balm - My favourite tinted lip balm that has an SPF. You don't need much more than that!
  11. Illamasqua Blush Excite - The ideal bright coral blush! It is super pigmented and a little goes a long way but it gives the most amazing colour to tanned skin.
  12. Shu Uemura Eye Lash Curlers - Curling my lashes and a coat of mascara is what i normally go for on holiday. These lash curlers are fantastic for keeping your eyelashes curled all day.
  13. L'Oreal Volume Million Lashes - My favourite mascara! It lengthens, volumizes without any clumping.
  14. NARS Larger Than Life Lip gloss Paris Follies (BLOG POST) - One of my favourite lip glosses for summer!
What are your holiday essentials?

New Clarins Summer 2013 Lip Products

When it comes to summer i like using light, sheer products, with the occasional bright lip, so when these Clarins products landed on my desk i was quite excited to use them!

Clarins Instant Smooth Crystal Lip Balms (Crystal Gold Plum) £18*

When i first took the lid off to this lip balm, and saw the bright green, the first thing that popped into my head was 'what on earth is this?!'.

The packaging is very sturdy and can handle a good bashing at the bottom of your handbag. The main colour or pigment to this lip balm is in the centre and is surrounded by a gel like balm. Don't worry, the bright green doesn't show on the lips!

This tinted lip balm is moisturising and hydrating, giving a sheen to the lips. It is a hybrid of a lip balm, lipstick and a gloss all in one. I do have to say that it took a couple of swipes for the colour to apply evenly. I think once it has been used and warmed up, then the colour glides on evenly. I thought they were going to be quite sheer, however it does appear quite opaque.

Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector (Rosewood Shimmer) £17*

This is a perfect mix of a balm, tint and a gloss all rolled into one, giving the lips a hint of colour and a boost of moisture. I have heard a lot hype about these products and i was eager to try it out.

Rosewood Shimmer is a light caramel brown and i didn't know what to expect until i had swatched it. I think it's the ideal nude for me, as i can wear it on its own or combined with a lipstick.

I think the tube packaging is super convenient and handy for doing your makeup on the go. Like most lip products, it's not going to last hours and hours on the lips, however it fades evenly and leaves the lips moisturised and hydrated.

I am really keen on trying out more shades of these, as i love the formula of these. It isn't too sticky or tacky but gives the lips some colour and sheen.

Left-Right: Crystal Gold Plum, Rosewood Shimmer

I am really impressed with these lip products, as i had never tried anything from the 'lip' range from Clarins and now i am glad i did! I have always associated Clarins with skincare, and i think they are doing a fantastic job on their makeup range!

Have you tried any of these lip products? Thoughts?
