MAC Strobe Lotion Golden Elixir Review

Who doesn't want healthy, glowing skin? I know i do! I found the creme de la creme of glowing products.

One of MACs best selling products is their Strobe Cream and they have just released a golden version of this jewel with the new Temperature Rising Collection.

MAC's Golden Elixir is a golden based highlighter that can be used on its own on bare skin, mixed with moisturizer/foundation, or as an actual highlighter for your face. This is a rich, warm, golden shade that is awesome on all skin tones. Some people maybe a bit alarmed at first because it appears quite dark in the bottle, but once applied to the skin and blended, it gives your skin the JLO glow!

This can also be used over the body for a summery, golden glow. I would apply this to my shoulders, collar bone and on my legs 'cos i want to shimmer! I am certainly taking this on my next holiday!

Do you prefer the original Strobe Cream or the Golden Elixir?

    1. Yes, this can be used on all skin tones. I don't think it would give a tanned effect but more of a golden glow. x

  3. Hi Selina, firstly I would like to say how much I enjoy reading your blog and watching your make up tutorials, as much as I love makeup I never have the patience to watch a whole tutorial... unless its yourself or Lisa Eldridge! With regards to this product, I have never tried any of the Strobe Creams or Lotions but after reading your blog I gather you're a huge fan! I normally use Mac Cream Colour Base in Pearl as highlight and I also have all of the Benefit ones and have recently purchased Nars Albatross. Would you say this version of Strobe Cream looks like Nars Albatross on the skin in terms of the golden shimmer colour? Also I am the same colouring as yourself in the Nars Foundation and Tinted Moisturiser, could you please recommend a Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick that would suit me and perhaps look the most flattering!

    1. Hi Ayisha. I am so glad you enjoy my blog and my tutorials!! To be honest NARS Albatross gives more of a highlighted effect to the skin, whereas Strobe Lotion gives the skin a healthy glow or natural sheen. It is quite sheer and not as pigmented as the Albatross. With regards to Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick try the one in Nectar, it is a mix of corals and peaches and looks stunning on our skin tone! I have done a blog post on it. Here's the link: http://www.missbeautyadikt.co.uk/2012/11/highlighters-for-asianindianolivetanned.html
