MAC Face & Body Foundation Review

I have been using MAC Face & Body foundation on and off for about 2 years and thought it was about time to write a review on this stuff!

This was one of my first ever foundations from MAC and it’s one i steer away from but then when i go back to using it, i remember why i love this foundation so much!

I tend to use this on my ‘good skin’ days because it is such sheer coverage and almost looks as if you have nothing on! This foundation really looks like natural, luminous skin and no one can tell if you’re wearing foundation or not!

MAC Face & Body looks like my skin but even better! That is one of the reasons why i love using this on shoots too.

I have never come across any foundation like this apart from the Makeup Forever Face & Body Liquid Makeup.

It can be built up for more coverage and can also be used on the body. I find this foundation isn’t great for people who want a matte finish because this one leaves the skin with a dewy finish.

One of the reasons why i love this foundation is because it ‘sets’, which helps the foundation last much longer on the skin. It is transfer and water resistant, making it a fab foundation to use in the warmer months or if you’re on holiday!

It is a water based foundation and makes it suitable for most skins but especially combination and oily skins. This puts hydration back into the skin without any oil, so you don’t need to worry about looking like a slick mess!

The consistency is very runny and light and is the complete opposite of MAC Studio Fix Fluid. If you are wanting to build this foundation up for more coverage, i suggest you apply one layer and let it set (takes about 10 seconds) and then apply another layer until you get the desired coverage.

This is one of my favourite foundations for flash photography, as there is no flashback! Hoorah!!! Looks amazing in natural light too!

There is a huge colour range from MAC and i believe they now offer 2 sizes of the Face & Body Foundation. I have the 120ml at home and i personally think it is such great value for money.

What do i think overall?!! I think my whole blog post implies that i love this stuff!

Have you tried MAC Face & Body?

  3. Do you experience any breakouts with the Mac foundations? I stopped using them last year for that reason, i'm not sure what's in them that makes me break out.

    1. I have never had any problems. Which MAC foundation is it? Sometimes, it could be just one ingredient that can make you break out. x

    2. MAC uses bismuth oxychloride in a lot of their products, which is an irritant & acne-producer for many people. It's very likely that ingredient, although it could be something else. The majority of MAC's face products such as foundations break me out as well. The only type I'm able to use is Skinfinish Natural, which I sometimes use to set foundations that are more sheer.

  5. Love this foundation- i prefer sheer than thick and this lasts forever. The larger bottle definately value for money. Selina I love your makeup blogs but is there any chance you can do a haircare one? XX

  6. This was the first MAC foundation I ever tried....a million years ago :-) When I moved to the tropics, it quickly went bad, even though it was packed in a cool, dark place. It didn't even last a year before completely separating & starting to smell off. Really disappointing. That was many years ago, and I haven't bought another one since. All other MAC foundations I've tried break me out. ALL of them. Doesn't bother me much though, as I don't like the way their foundations feel on my skin. Really gunky, yucky feeling, especially as the day goes on. I far prefer Bobbi Brown and Estée Lauder foundations. Even Ben Nye foundations feel better on my skin than MAC foundations, and they don't ever break me out.

Oh well, I've pretty much discovered my all time favorite foundations in all formulas at this point - liquid, cream, wax based, mineral, etc. Unless MAC really busts their backsides coming out with a new foundation formula that blows everything else on the market away (especially BB & EL), I doubt I'll ever buy any of theirs again.

    2. Thank you!! Have you thought about storing it in the fridge if it has been going off so quickly?

    3. I just haven't bothered buying it since then. I've never had this problem with any other foundation. Although I've now got a massive 200ml bottle of Estee Lauder Double Wear that I should probably keep in the fridge. Unlikely I'll use it all before it goes bad. But it was a great deal compared to the price of a regular sized bottle of DW. Too good to pass up!

  7. I LOVE your eyeshadow here - which shade(s) did you use? I love the champagne pink/taupe-y shade it is. I'm getting bored of using brown e/s for my every day eyes - I think this will be my next staple!
