Ben Nye Banana Luxury Powder Review

I have been trying to track this Ben Nye Powder for so long and finally i found it in the UK! I am so pleased i have purchased this because it certainly does live up to all the hype! This is the powder that is used on Kim Kardashian by her makeup artist.

It comes in a sifter jar, but i find it very messy and the powder just gets everywhere! Ben Nye Banana Powder is perfect for setting your makeup and and the yellowness of the powder compliments my skin tone and doesn't make it look ashy. I like to use this to set my makeup for my entire face, however, it can just be used to set your under eye concealer.

I have tried and tested this and it was mentioned in one of my YouTube videos and used a lot in tutorials. For those who have combination skin, this is perfect! I didn't need to touch up my face throughout the day because it doesn't look shiny! It controls shine very well and brightens up your complexion. The yellow powder suits many skin tones and you get a lot of powder for the price!

The only downside is that it is very hard to get hold of in the UK! Overall, i love this product and it is something i will be happy to have in my professional makeup kit.

I purchased this from Wigs Up North and received the item within two days of ordering. It cost £13.46 for 3 oz and can be purchased HERE

Have any of you tried this powder?

  3. Would it work on top of a orange based foundation? Or does it have to be a foundation with yellow undertones?

  6. I have this product & hate it :-( Because of the massive amount of corn starch in it - that's WHY it's so stinking cheap - it winds up caking on the skin very easily. I've also got oily skin & find that this doesn't do a good job of keeping shine down throughout the day. I was so excited to receive this in the mail....and so utterly disappointed as soon as I tried it.

The best setting & blotting powder I've found is Kett Sett Colorless Setting Powder compact, which really *is* completely colorless & is made primarily from calcium carbonate (99%) - which soaks up oil like crazy. Best blotting powder I've ever used. It's approximately $25 for a full mirrored compact (not sure of the gram weight as it isn't printed on the compact, but it will last me well over a year & a half at this rate). It takes the tiniest bit to tone shine down & never, ever cakes up. It just goes on & stays completely invisible. Unlike the results I got with this Ben Nye product :-( I've got another Ben Nye loose setting powder as well, and am equally disappointed with it. It's made primarily from cheap talc & really does jack for setting my foundation or blotting during the day. And it also cakes up over foundation, unfortunately. I wish I had somebody to offload these products on because they're just gathering scads of dust on my makeup bench.

Ben Nye does have some nice products, but I can't say that their powders are some of them. Their cream contouring & highlighting products are very nice, as are their cream blushes, some of their heavier coverage wax based foundations & some of their pressed blushes & eyeshadows. As for their powders, I'll never buy any of them again after already being burned twice.

    1. That's such a shame that you didn't get on well with the powders. I believe it came from being used as theatre makeup and how long it made the makeup last. Have you thought about selling yours on, as i am sure someone will be happy to buy it?

  9. I have this powder and three other shades :) I did find it not working too well for setting my under eye concealer as I'm not tan enough really! I really love love love the Natural Set powder though and i use it every single day :) Nutmeg for contouring and Beige Suede for all over face color :)) x
